BASICS OF INVESTING

This shot was originally destined to be something bigger. I had an idea regarding Photoshop and was gonna use this shot alongside other textures etv. But when i got it into the computer i realised that i was extremly happy with it sooc.

Its very rare that i dodnt tamper with any of my shots but leaving this one alone reminded me of the early days of my photography, almost two years ago. Back then i just had my basic point-and-shoot lumix, and i never altered any shots, not even cropping them. I used to spend so much time on composition to make sure that the shot didnt need any post processing. To be fair back then, i hadnt even heard of photoshop or lightroom and i remember what i was like when i first spent time messing with them.

Its always good though sometimes to go back to basics and remember what got you into photography in the first place.

On a seperate note, my very good mate Daz* has been on at me for ages about getting a flash and opening up new avenues to me. Ive never really been keen on the idea, id rather have a new lense or gadgit, but i decide here to use the built in flash. I set the flash to full power and under exposed the sky as much as i could. Setting off the flash with the camera at this setting really lightened up "me" and gave me a great background backdrop.

Maybe i will invest in a flash at somepoint. Who knows?

This is the gear that is suggested to us officials is we wish to really "look the part". Of course, this are the basics. As an official grows in rank, it is likely that they will invest in equipment of higher quality. I have learned which models and brand names of equipment are the top (however they cost a pretty penny). This all goes hand in hand with looking professional; for me, looking like a referee is the first aspect a coach will pick up on before you even make your first call of the game. It all depends on how far an official wants to go in investing in their career. I have learned that coaches will notice a referee who is not physically up to par; an official's credibility has already taken a big dive and thus he/she will have to work 10x harder to rebuild their credibility.

Having a coach's respect before even stepping on the floor = priceless.
